My panels like many have bypass diodes in the junction box. With 3 diodes per panel and 3 series panels I've logged excellent performance with partial shade.
The main purpose of bypass diodes is to prevent back feeding a partially shaded panel and damaging the cells. The side benefit is that (with 3 bypass diodes) you can get 1/3 or 2/3 panel output for series panels.
What panels do you have? Did they come with the bypass diodes or did you add them? Do you have a bypass across each panel in addition to the ones across each row?
