Camper advice needed - Bigfoot on F350 in South America

Soon to be taking over a 2000 F350 Superduty Lariat 7.3 Litre with end of 1999 Bigfoot slideon 2500 10.6 which is currently in S America and that is where it will stay.

Vehicle has done about 150,000 miles including the drive down from CA to the bottom of S America and has had regular maintenance including recent new tyres, suspension and front brakes. Auto transmission and everything works as it should.

Full details are at

Just looking for any thoughts on potential problems and possible weaknesses that might crop up. We'll be spending 6 months in the USA before heading back to start actually using the rig, so any info to assist me in making sure I have any really critical spare parts on board would be appreciated..

  • The trucks have had a recall for the cam position sensor. even after being replaced they can still fail. It is not an expensive part nor is it difficult to replace. We keep a spare with us and the 10mm socket to replace it.
It is the only thing that has failed on our truck. Google "ford f250 cam position sensor"
Because the engine has wet sleeves you need to pay attention to the type of coolant. Probably a good idea to have it flushed and replaced with a good Diesel antifreeze that is anti-cavitation
We are biased but we believe the 2000 f350 7.3 is a very good truck.:)

    Have fun and good luck.
