The trucks have had a recall for the cam position sensor. even after being replaced they can still fail. It is not an expensive part nor is it difficult to replace. We keep a spare with us and the 10mm socket to replace it.
It is the only thing that has failed on our truck. Google "ford f250 cam position sensor"
Because the engine has wet sleeves you need to pay attention to the type of coolant. Probably a good idea to have it flushed and replaced with a good Diesel antifreeze that is anti-cavitation
We are biased but we believe the 2000 f350 7.3 is a very good truck.:)
