Where do you get a "thick" tarp?
Usually there is a patch fastened to the outside of the packaging that allows you to feel the difference. They are sold in different thicknesses that are reflected in the price so yes the expensive silver ones are what you want. They will stand up to many more uses than the el cheapos:)
The canvas idea will be really expensive and much heavier on and off...plus in our neck of the woods the squirrels can ruin a canvas tarp in pretty short order.
