I also at first read if camper moved away from tiedown it would tighter not looser, but it sounds like you must have a pretty good angle ,outboard at top, on tiedown, so as camper moves away the distance between mounts decreases (becoming more vertical), opposite side does get tighter-exerting more force.
Didnt say if you have bed mat, that would be 1st recommendation if you dont have one. Cant do much about the angle of tiedowns (unless you had Torklifts)so one the other guides or limiting spacers would be next item. Ours will move sometimes though not much.
The other plus using bed mat (made to fit) its nice when picking up something that might blow out, ie couple of 8' 1x2s, just flip over the mat slid em under.
