That is quite a gap ~~ 3" front to rear ~ or are you saying 3" gap between bottom of camper and bed of truck (vertical). My camper rests on 1" boards placed across the bed of truck. Sides of camper clear top of bed sides by +- 3/4". You are going to build a 'base'
