Camping in TC off truck

Yup, I take mine off if I'm staying for much more than a weekend. I just got the Torklift Wobble Stoppers and I'm heading out soon for a week to the Oregon dunes.

Sitting in my garage, the improvement is night and day as far as stability.

Did it at spring training in Arizona for a week and then again in Death Valley. No problems and perfectly normal for us.

Just an FYI, I've heard that some campgrounds, if you're staying in one, might? not allow separation... don't know if that's a problem or not, but as some are restricted to newer? models some don't allow you to take it off...

Just heard it around, don't know if it's true or not...

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Not allowing the TC off the truck? So then Travel Trailers and Fifth wheels should stay hitched then too.

TT's, 5th wheels, MH's etc ALL have wheels under them and can be easily moved if needed to be for a reason. TC's on the other hand must have an adequate vehicle placed under them between the jacks after they are raised enough to move them if the TC owner's truck isn't present. Very common in many CG's or areas to NOT allow them to be taken off the truck when in a private CG or in/on public land/state parks/etc. Have owned a min of one TC constantly for the last 51 years and have found far more CG's etc that will not allow them to be taken off the truck than those which do allow them off! Makes very good sense!

Doesn't even make bad sense..

I can load my camper and be gone quicker than most can get their trailers ready. No difference between wheels being under it or next to it...it's not ready to go until the rig is running and it's hooked.

We take ours off for two nights or more... except in the winter in the snow. Another story.

Never been told 'no'...

Before you do camp with the camper off the truck, make sure your camper is designed to be used this way!! There have been stories on this site about that.. some campers are not structured in a way that the floor is strong enough to support the full water tank, you, etc. Just sayin'..

I'm guessing it's a safety/fire thing? and that if you're not there they can't move it, but could the others by hitching up?? or stability?? Just a WAG...

I wouldn't understand that they're just doing that to TC just to be Ornery... so might be something to it...

Just do all your camping east of the Mississippi. The CGs and state parks dont even know what a TC is off loading is no problem.

The wife an I always drop our camper. When we had the 3 legged Taxan, I put a saw horse under the from to make sure it did not tip over when we were in the cab over.
