If I'm winter camping I leave it on since not terribly safe to unload on slick terrain plus the truck bed actually provides some insulation as the one time I took one off in the winter I had pipes freeze. Also battery life drains quicker in cold weather so putting it back on can be a problem with low batteries.
Warmer weather I take it off anytime I'm going for 2 nights or more. My 861 is a breeze to unload, 4 jacks make it very stable and I lower it all the way down to reduce wobble when in it.
My old Arctic Fox 1150 was a white knuckle experience as I don't think jacks were as stout and those DRW brackets on the front jacks add quite a bit of sway. I hated taking that thing off, even when at home on a platform.
I carry 4 2x8's cut to about 18" each and put these under each jack as I've had them sink in the rain before. Make sure you have access to elec or have a generator or make sure your batteries never get too low before reloading.
One of the benefits of a TC is to have your vehicle in addition to your camper without towing another flat car behind as big RVs do. Take it off, haven't found a campground that has an issue with it yet in NH.
