What are the output specs for the 4.6L?
Sure, it'll struggle compared to larger V8s currently (key word there) available, but compared with the motors everyone was happy with a generation ago, it's probably right there, especially with 6 gears behind it.
292 hp @ 5,700 rpm, 320 ft.-lb. @4,000 rpm.
Just to add some perspective to this thread: when we had our Springdale we scaled at 6700. We were towing that with a 2006 F150 scab with the 4.2 V6 rated at 202hp, 252tq. It pulled that trailer pretty well, even in the Smokies. We upgraded to an F250 crew with the 5.4L rated at 260hp, 350tq and the comfort level was better, but I think a lot of that was psychological. The kicker is, the F250 in 2006 had a max towing weight of 9600 compared to my 2010 F150's 9400.
I know the 2006 F250 had a little higher payload and GCWR, it almost seems like my 2010 F150 is very close to the capabilities of the 2006 F250. This gives me hope.:h
