Can you run a small a/c (9600btu) w/2000i portable genny?

Just picked up a new (Pulsar / Workzone) 2000i at Aldi for $169.00 on clearance. My question is should it run my small a/c 9600btu on my Northstar 950sc? Rex told me it could be run with a regular extension cord, 15amp, that it has a small initial amp draw. I have run it off the house with a 100 ft cord. One of the questions on the Pulsar site was can you run an 8000 w a/c off of it and someone answered "no." But I believe Northstar recommends the 2000i size (for the genny storage compartment on the 950sc). Anyone running a single genny this size for your tc's a/c? Any issues or what about in elevation above 5000?
