Cannot find source of water leak on slide

We have a 2010 Passport 2910BH. It has one slide that contains the sofa and dining table. The dining table has three bench seats with storage underneath. This summer we noticed when we opened the storage bench toward the back of the slide the wood side and carpet were wet. It continues to stay damp/wet despite us sealing the roof of the slide with the self-leveling sealer and sealing the side seams with silicon. The leak actually seams to be getting worse and we just can't find it's source. Any thoughts or suggestions on what might be leaking? We're concerned about the damage and possible mold this could cause.
  • If it only happens when it's open and raining and gusty, then another possibility is the wiper seals.

If either side wiper seal is weak, rain might be forced by it and drain down to the interior.

And on ours, there's gap between the outer side wiper seal and outer bottom wiper seal at the two bottom corners. Even though the side wiper extends below the bottom wiper by a couple of inches, in extremely gusty rain, water can get up in there and wet the carpet.

EDIT: but these leaks will wet the interior of the main shell, not the interior of the slide itself. So maybe they are not what's happening in this case.
  • We had the same problem until one day before leaving a campsite I had to get something from the bedroom of the camper, when coming back down I saw the source of the leak. There was a puddle of water on top of the slider, every time we would accelerate the trailer it would spill on the floor.
  • From looking at your floor plan my guess is to check the window seals.

  • I have the same problem. For now, I leave the trailer stored with the slide in the open position which doesn't leak.
  • Get a leak detection test done. $100 and all questions will be answered.
  • What I would suggest would be, the very first time you take your rig out, keep running your hands around the siding and carpet ever few minutes when it begins to rain. It's way too late when you discover wet in general areas, and much better to know where it starts. If you can possibly bring in the slide when it's raining, and see if that makes it better.. that is a good indication too. Do you have a slide awning that extends over the sides? Is the wind blowing or just straight down rain? Lot's of possibilities until you work on it a bit.
