Car (truck) cover

There was a post here about car covers several weeks ago and the name Empire Covers came up. I went online and ordered the best cover they offered for my GMC crew cab. I got a very reasonable price with the 45% discount that they offered. Everything was fine until I opened the box and found a very cheaply made "paper" like cover. They made claims that it was a custom fit cover made especially to fit my vehicle. No way, this is a one size fits all cover that would probably drape over any full sized crew cab truck. It's a joke. I'll be surprised if it lasts even one season. And of course, all of the 5 star reviews on their website did not include my review!
Anyway, if you want a quality, custom fit car cover do not believe anything you read on the Empire Car Cover website. This company is a rip off.

  • Used a cover similar to what you are describing and it lasted me several seasons (I think it was called Classic cover, from JC Whitney). Didn't keep and dirt, debris or moisture off at all, but it kept the sun off.
  • That would be a great solution but the community I live in would not permit a free standing cover in my driveway.
  • Unfortunately, the truck is too big for my garage so I am forced to leave my truck parked in my driveway when not using it to tow our TT. The hot weather and UVs are tough on clearcoat paints. It literally baked the clearcoat off of my old Suburban. Sorry for the rant above...I was hoping to reach out to anyone else that was considering buying one of these junk covers from Empire.
  • Most car covers wear off the paint, if being used outdoors where the wind can flap it against the car. For outdoor storage, it's best to park the car under a carport/awning, without a cover on it.

Covers are fine for keeping dust off of expensive collector cars, when stored indoors.
