One thing to consider is that it is considered very bad form to dump a cassette dosed up with heaps of blue stuff in any sort of toilet not connected to the sewer.

There is an additional system (called SOG) which vents the cassette to the outside world right before it is used (via a small electric fan through a carbon filter). We have one of these installed and it lets you use the cassette without any chemicals, so you can really dump at any toilet.
Our cassette (20 L / 6 gal) lasts the two of us for 2 days minimum. A spare cassette would be good, but we have no room to carry it.
The cassette can have a nasty habit to relieve pressure when it is used after a significant altitude change. The SOG system eliminates that as well.
I would not want to go back to a fixed black tank.
