When you push the cassette into the spot under the bowl, a plastic "door" on sliders which covers the opening to the cassette where the effluent flows into from the bowl, is held in place thus allowing effluent to flow down from the bowl.When cassette is removed, this "door" slides back over the opening ensuring a water tight seal when the cassette is lifted upside down to drain effluent through the directional discharge pipe at the end.
