CAT scale result and a question

Had my rig weighed at a Pilot/Flying J the other day. These were the results:

Steer 4,880 LB
Drive 5,220 LB

Trailer 6,800 LB

Gross 16,900 LB


I didn't have time to unhitch the trailer and just weigh the truck HOWEVER I have weighed the tongue before using the bathroom scale method and came up with 950 lb.

Based on this, can I assume that the trailer weighs 7,750 lbs? The certified weight of the trailer by the factory 'as-built' is 6,240 lb. Not sure how to come up with the total weight of the trailer loaded up.

    Really!! You can't tow a 7,800 lbs. trailer with a F150? Oh Brother!!

    The reason it weighs 10K is because it's F350 and a PSD. If it was a F150 it would only weigh 6,000 lbs. But then I realize, some people think you got to have a Diesel dually to tow a popup.

    Since you do not know how much tongue weight the WD hitch is transferring back to the TT, your guess is probably as close as any. Your numbers indicates about 1000 to 1300 lbs. of TT supplies, about the same as mine.

    Measure the truck and you will get the hard numbers.

    My former F350 weighed about #4600 steering axle and #3400 drive axle with me and a full tank of diesel. It was a short bed XLT. So you could use that as a reference for figuring out the tongue weight.

    Given the TV combined axle load of 10100#, a tongue weight of 950#,
    and assuming the WDH is adjusted to transfer a load equal to around 10-30% of TW to the TT axles --

    the estimated loaded TV weight would be 9245-9435#.

    Along the same thinking, can I take the gvwr of the truck (11,500) and subtract the payload (3,520) to get the weight of the truck?

    I pretty closely added up the weight of bodies and cargo and subtracted that from the scale weight and came close to the above calculated number, around 8,000 lbs.
