Caulking a Truck Camper

Our big Okan 117 double slide, mostly fiberglass, is 7 years old.

Is silicon rubber as good as Dicor for caulking?

Silicon rubber is what I had so I used it this time. Think the front overhead clearance lights were leaking.

I inspect the top several times a year for caulking cracks and last year used Dicor and it worked great.

Thanks....Preston

Has anybody tried Flexseal. I saw the brite white choice yesterday in a hardware store and it got me to wondering. Some masking tape and away you go. Consumer Reports video online says it's ok for screen door boats but not all gutter seams :)

why not on gutter seams? seems like it would be ideal for them.

For Consumer Reports, "Some" vertical gutter seams leaked.

  • Why Dicor instead of Proflex on a roof? Roof material perhaps is the deciding factor?

  • Camping World and some rv repair places.

By the way thanks for all of the replies on t/c caulking.
  • Where do you get geocel and dicor? I looked at Lowes and couldn't find it.
  • Tried Proflex once on one seam. After an hour of fighting the stuff I threw the tube away and went and got a tube of Dicor. No more problems. Dicor makes two different products. One for roofs and flat surfaces, one for vertical seams. Get the right one and your good to go.

Silicon is bad.... it doesn't stick to the siding very well. It may appear to stick , but it will peel off eventually.

Geocel Proflex RV is the only thing 99% of us use for sealing non roof surfaces.

    Dicor on the roof.
