Center of gravity/weight question

So the wife and I are kicking around the idea of a nice new shinny camper. I would like to go a little lighter than I got now if possible and found a couple that are a bit. Mine now is rated dry about 9.6' 3200 lbs.

Looking at-

9.10' 3044 lb dry

8.5' 2827 lb dry

I'm a HEAVY lean towards the 8.5' and trying to talk the wife into it since I want a better experience getting there.

My question is-

Of course being over 200 lbs lighter will help, but Will the center of gravity of the shorter one help very much by distributing the weight towards the front on top of that? Or will it be a very minor difference?
How much does shortening up COG 12-14" really help?

Thanks!
