No they are not ceramic. They use the standard heated wire system. I have the regular Vornado (looks like a fan) and it does a great job with our 30ft trailer in cooler weather. The advantage to the Vornado is the circulation of the heated air. We also have a ceramic heater with a fan but it does not circulate nearly as well as the Vornado and is quite a bit noisier.

Oil filled in main area, and small ceramic on a shelf in our front bedroom does the trick.

Oil filled takes a bit to heat up, but is silent other than the click from the thermostat. It puts out tons of consistent, noiseless heat.

When taking showers, the ceramic goes in the bathroom.

I like this little fireplace, it has two settings; 750 watt and 1500 watt. The 750 watt setting is great when using other heavy usage appliances. The outlet was installed just for the fireplace and it has its own breaker.

If you can, buy one with a remote control. Even though the heater has a thermostat, there is a chance that when in bed, one of you will want more or less heat. No need to get out of the bed with a remote. A paid a bit more approx. 10 years ago to have one oscillating heater with a remote.

Also, electric blankets are great! We have an hybrid TT, and the electric blanket works miracle to kill humidity in the bunkends beds.

Thanks for the tip on Vornado. I've seen their fans but Haven't heard of them having heaters.

One thing that impresses me is that many of their models do have a tip over switch AND an overheat shut off unlike so many of the other brands that do not have the tip over switch.

Dyson Hot/Cool.....Works perfect, heats our 32' toyhauler.

What about some style and add a 1500w fireplace???????

This is true but they don't all distribute heat evenly. Maybe they would all be the same in a perfectly, totally insulated closed area but in a trailer one might keep it toasty right around the heater in the living area but freeze you in the bedroom. Another, will circulate the heat through the whole area. The ceramic towers and the Vornado seem to get the most positive comments for RV's.

I use a ceramic and it's fine in my little camper. I would second the Vornado (available at Bed, Bath and Beyond). I got two for my elderly parents' home 2 years ago and they are impressive. Got the small unit for the kitchen and medium for the living room. They are quiet and really do heat a whole room, as they say they do. Very safe, as well.
