Changing Fuel Filter

Today I changed the fuel filter on my 06 DuraMax. My first time doing it myself just wanted to say what a breeze. Maybe an hour total including the reset on the DIC. Kinda fun. :)
  • I have a '06 Duramax also and I can change my filter in less time than it takes to get out and then put the tools back up. It isn't a hard thing to do, but like most tasks it gets faster after the first time. I remove my right side battery to make getting to the filter easier (yes I do tape up the positive lead after removal). I have replaced my filter 9 times so far so I can just about do it blindfolded.

So you're saying you can change you fuel filter in 10 minutes?

If I take my time cleaning up it takes that long. ;)
  • There is something satisfying about doing your own work, and it's not just the money saved.

Next time it will be even faster.

If it takes that long... The 03-07 5.9's are very easy to change.

I think I am maybe 20 minutes for all 3 filters on my truck. One OEM, and 2 added filters.

    OP,
Good job on a successful fuel filter change. Doing the job yourself and saving some $$$ is very satisfying.
