Changing just rear tires for higher load rated tires?

I had a.good weekend. Sailed part of the way home. Then spouse tested.me that th elder of.twin.sons and spouse wanted to treat us to.dinner.......
Took sails down, started to motor home. That was about the.time the wind went from 8-10 to mid.to upper teens. Well any way. Good weekend with another 25 or so owners of Jeanneau sailboats.

Sounds like you're having fun, Marty!

Glad OP fixed problem too. Also shows generally speaking, that most trailer sway.control issues are usually on the tread end of things.

Hope this thumb typed ok, in some 2'sh foot wave on sailboat on Puget sound.

Found out it was not my truck tires but the factory trailer tires. Put on a heavier load set of tires and it tows just fine with no sway.

I agree that if you have no need to change the tires if everything is working for you. My trailer, at 6,500 lbs. is considerably below the tow rating of my Tundra and I also agree that I would never tow on a regular basis anything approaching the 10K tow rating. I'm simply stating that each situation i.e. specific vehicle, tires and trailer being towed can make a difference on whether P tires are OK or LT tires would be better.

:) Hi, My Lincoln was rated to tow 8,900 lbs of trailer. I would never tow that much with it. My trailer is 6,300 lbs. If I was to tow more than my Lincoln was rated for then maybe LT tires would help, but then I shouldn't do it in the first place. (my opinion)
