Changing skylight

I need to replace a skylight, what's best to use to clean the old sealant (Dicor) off the rubber roof? I know you're not sposed to use anything mineral based on the rubber roof so that pretty mush rules out the automotive solvent I was going to use.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance.

Really? Where'd you get it? I got one from this place (Made in Canada,), ordered a tube of their caulking, didn't know what kind it was but it's butyl caulking, pretty sticky I bet.

Is the frame and or gear box bad too? If not, you can just change the dome. It's about a 10 minute job to just replace the dome and about a 1/3 the cost.

I'm talking about the skylight, not a roof vent.

Will try the heat gun and plastic scraper, thanks guys. :C

  • Heat gun, plastic scraper (credit card works pretty well) and lots of patience. That Dicor caulk does it's job pretty darned well.

  • Denatured alcohol, mineral spirits, or acetone. Just dont use anything with citric acid or petroleum distillates.
  • Use a heat gun on low and keep it moving. This softens it up nicely and then use a plastic scraper to clean it off. I didn't use any kind of chemicals.
