Chaulk

For a girl, I normally can lay a mean bead of chaulk..
Have I lost my touch with age or is RV chaulk tougher to use.
I'm using ProFlex

  • No rubber glove? Just go inside and get a sandwich baggie, and stick a finger into a corner of that. I'm one of those cheepskates who can't afford latex gloves.
  • Put the caulk tube in a water tight plastic bag then put it in a bucket of really warm water for 15 or 20 min. Makes it a lot easier to use.

  • I thought of running to HF for gloves but it's 1 hr round trip and not only am I working on this project, my family decided to wear a different outfit every day this week. I really need to talk to them about that lol
  • I wear latex gloves from Harbor Freight. Just one time over the caulk to smooth it out. Go slowly. It is more difficult than latex caulk.

Many of the RV caulks behave differently than the common household stuff. Don't blame yourself. You might try wearing gloves if you need to touch the stuff to smooth it, and dampen the gloved finger with solvent to allow a smooth finish.

Latex caulk is simple, forgiving, and not what you would want on an RV exterior. You are using the right stuff. Be sure to fully remove any old silicone caulk before you apply the new.

    Have fun, sistah!

Thank you!!!! I'll have more fun if I could get it to lay nice lol
I know this stuff sticks to fingers like crazy! I was one big gob of goo the other day.
What solvent should I use for smoothing it out? I've just been using water.
