Check recalls yourself by VIN number--last 15 years

How do you know if your vehicle has any recalls? What if OEM left you off the list or mis-type your info? What if your mailing address is wrong? Maybe you have older model, covers last 15 years.

Check for yourself here.

  • thank you for the link.. my truck and motorcycle are Free of recalls for now..

there is also Silent recalls.. not posted... Silent... Fix IF/when car comes in for other repairs...

Repairs OK to repair only IF customer complains of "THIS" type of problem...
    and on and on...
  • Dealers don't always tell you about recalls. I took in 2 autos one I knew had a recall both for preventative maintenance. I have been working with this particular service writer at this Ford for years. When I called and he wasn't there another service writer told me the other car had an important recall (cooling system for hybrid battery) that I researched if not done battery can overheat and fail. Although they do get paid for the work for whatever reason this advisor didn't mention what he actually printed out. So I will be more careful from now on.
  • Thanks for posting the link! :C

You can also just pull into 'any' dealership and when they enter your vin on any repair, all the recalls come up for your vehicle.

I bought a used MH, pulled in for just an oil change and all the recalls came up. I was a little shocked but, they performed all the recalls for me for free. I think it's great these manufacture's are being held to better transparency and getting all the recalls out there to everyone.

For us real old folks years ago all these manufactures were required to do was post the recall in a newspaper! And hope you didn't find it to read! Also if you were not the original owner they wouldn't pay for the recall repair. We've come a long way.
