Chevrolet or GMC Duramax exhaust pipe question?

Has anyone had any issues with the Duramax exhaust placement blowing to hot against your trailer, and causing any problems? The exhaust pipe on the Duramax comes back at a shallow angle, instead of shooting more out the side like Ford or Ram. I have not heard of any issues, as I know many people tows fivers, and travel trailers all the time with them, just courious? I know the tail pipe has some openings in the front of it, so that might be the solution to my worries on this? Thank you!
  • I have not had an issue. The heat diffuses rapidly after exiting the pipe.
  • Put a turndown on it if you think it's a problem. Doubt it, though, it's a long way from your trailer.
  • They have run that same style of exhaust since 07. If it was a problem it would be wide spread. The DPF trucks of 07.5-2010 ran a lot hotter and there was no issue. You are much more safe, temp wise, with an SCR equipped truck.
  • They've had that design since the 2007.5 model year. This is the first time I have ever heard the question come up on all the RV and Truck forums I frequent.

I have a 2009 Duramax. It's never presented a problem in 9 years of towing.

    It's a non issue.
  • Thank you all for the input. Have not heard of any problems with the design, but just wanted to see if anyone else has. Thank you again.
