Could be wrong, but I don't think either cab was lengthened, both still have the same wheelbase as previous models. Short bed EC or DC is 144 inches and Short bed CC is still 153 inches. If I am wrong, then soooo glad I didn't wait for the 2015s as my CC just fits in the garage with about 2" clearance.
When I ordered mine, I was told the crew cab was not lengthened. The front doors were shortened to allow for the rear doors to be lengthened, but the over all length of the cab stayed the same. - Dayle1Explorer II

For those that don't know the difference between a crew and double cab for GM trucks, the double cab is the new extended cab of yesteryear..
Both cab configurations have normal doors.

Stepson is driving a 2015 3500 DRW Double Cab4x4 8 foot box right now. When he brought it home, we talked about why he did not get a Crew Cab. He said GM only had enough pre production Crew Cabs to build a handful of trucks. Those were snapped up by the big shots at the GM tech center.
I am waiting for a test trip but Deb got a short ride yesterday....She thought is was an awesome truck with a very roomy front seating area.

- Engineer9860ExplorerI picked up a sales brochure at a local Chevy dealer on Thursday.
The printed brochure lists the 3500HD is available in a double cab, but only with the long box. SRW/DRW, gas or diesel, 4x4/4x2.
The double cab short box is only available in a 2500HD.

- CurtisFamilyExplorerChevrolet.com indicates the 3500HD is available in a double cab, long box and double cab, long box, dual rear wheel.
