Chevy intergrated brake

Ok, I don't think you have specified whether you are seeing this message when you have a trailer connected or not

I have a 2016 Chevy 2500HD with integrated brake controller and occasionally get that message. IMO, It comes on due to my 7 pin trailer plug not fitting in the socket properly / making good connection. If I unplug and plug back in it works fine. I'm going to make an appt. at the dealer to replace the 7 pin socket on the truck. It feels loose to me when plugged in. I have 3 trailers (2 are fairly new) and the message pops up at times no matter which one I'm towing and I know its not the trailers.

I have that sometimes on my 2015 Tahoe/Winnebago. I clean and “scuff up” the 7 pins on the TV and TT connectors with a small file and that fixes it for a couple of weeks.

I had the same issue with a 2009 2500 LTZ. Lots of replacing and service investigation before I got tired of paying $125/hour for "trying".

Ended up getting a new trailer late last year which required a new controller for reasons relating to 2016 technology vs. 2009 technology. I got an aftermarket controller and the IBC no longer governs the trailer brakes.

Shop offered to spend 3 hours to "try to disable" the factory IBC so that I wouldn't see the "service" light, but since the aftermarket controller is controlling the trailer brakes, I can hit the button on the panel (to make the "service" light go away) quite a few times rather than pay $375 and hope it makes the light stop.

Short story is I punted by buying a new controller...can't offer any insight to actually solve the problem.

I have got this message a few times. It goes away and usually comes on when no trailer is hooked to the truck. I recall one time is when it was raining and I think that it's caused by water intrusion somewhere. I purchased both parts like u did but have not replaced them yet since the trailer brakes seem to work. I did read some where that a short in the wiring somewhere under the bed of the truck could be the problem. Another poster I read said he found a chaffing and water intrusion. Hopefully others will chime in as well. I'm sure there is a fix out there.

Same here. Get an aftermarket and bypass the Puter.

Had the exact same thing. No power to the trailer brakes.

It was caused by an ABS module.
Mine went bad the end of July 2016.
There were no replacement parts in the entire nationwide GM inventory.

It wasn't until January 2017 I was called to say they had the part.

Back in August 2016 I ended up having to bypass the factory controller and installing an aftermarket one. I needed power to my trailer brakes.

After spending a couple hundred dollars and my time to hook up the aftermarket controller I haven't bothered to go back to Chevy to get the factory one back in service. It was going to be around $500-600 for parts and labor.

My IBC was replaced under warranty when it happened to me.

Same issue and sometimes received the "trailer disconnected" warning. the cord to the camper was loose in the receptacle. Later replaced it all all is well. I used a small bungee cord to hold the lid down tightly. Still use the cord.
