I have an 03 4200 (6Cyl) TB, with 3.73. It tows just fine within it's specs. Your expectations will determine whether you should get an 6 cyl or a V8. There is nothing wrong with the platform for towing. That vehicle platform properly equipped is rated for up to 7200 lbs. trailer and 750 lbs. tongue weight (payload, GVWR, GAWR apply).
