I’d be more likely to buy an older camper and older truck. Truck campers are the highest cost per sq ft of any RV.
You definitely can put a short bed camper on a long bed truck. Some think that is advantageous for storage up front. I find it weird.
If you open up to look at older models, you’ll have more to look at. Also, if you are looking at Truck Camper Magazine as a “guide” keep in mind that they only list manufacturers that advertise with them. There are several manufacturers that don’t exist any more and quite a number of models that are no longer in production. Host had lightweight no slide campers a few years ago, for example.
