Chuck-box and outdoor kitchen ideas

I've noticed many campers have made chuck-boxes and outdoor kitchen equipment. I thought it might be interesting to collect some photos and ideas here on the forum. Anyone got some photos they would like to post?

I'll start with a chuck-box I made over 25 years ago. It's proved very useful so we continue to use it.

It's basically a plywood box, but it does have some nice features beginning with two drop leaves as shown in this photo.

The door drops down to create a temporary shelf.

A unique feature is independently adjustable legs to ensure level/stable stove on uneven ground.

Grippers on each side hold towels/potholders.

Where did you find the low pressure adapter for your Coleman LXE?

I made it myself, but you can buy them now.
I can't find the link, but I recall reading that some company now has a kit available. But building your own is easy. There are a couple of youtube videos that show you how to do it.
  • We have a Lewis and Clark Outdoor kitchen which we team up with a Coleman LXE grill/stove/griddle. I don't have photos of my set-up, but below is what the Lewis and Clark looks like. I have it hooked up to my outdoor shower, so we have hot water for washing dishes, etc. as well.
And I think everybody knows what the Coleman LXE looks like. We have the interchangeable adapters for the stove grate (for cooking) and the griddle (for pancakes, bacon, etc). Also, I've done the conversion so that we can run the LXE off of our TT low pressure gas quick-connect.

  • This is my outdoor kitchen. I mainly use it for my offroad and tent camping trips, but it also makes for a great tailgate or impromptu roadside barbecue setup. It'll also come in handy for some of our beach sunset campfire outings.

  • I don't have any pics of my set up, but I use a commercially available Colemen Delux High Stand. It has proven to be a highly useful, how did I ever do without it, type peice of equipment. We had a power outage not long ago and we needed to cook dinner. Out came the stand and the propane stove and we cooked dinner. It was fantastic as well.

I do not have a lot of counter space and would like to make a box for the kitchen utensils and that sort of thing... Right now we just use the old Rubbermaid and its not well suited for this purpose.

Thanks for the share and the idea!

  • Nice box there! I've often thought of putting a bigger one on the back of the trailer.
