- Passin_ThruExplorerWe used Clorox Kitchen cleaner to remove some black stains, wipes on wipes off and rinse, and then used Meguiars Wax.
- myredracerExplorer IIAfter reading through a few forums, I settled on Mothers synthetic marine wax. I figured if it is designed for a harsh marine environment, it's gotta be good for an RV. This year however, I noticed that the the top of our front cap is just starting to show signs of oxidizing so I used an RV/marine resto product (Meguiars I think) that helped somewhat. Oxidation of front caps is common (maybe inevitable?). We put a cover on the TT at the end of the season which helps preserve the exterior for the 1/2 year it's in storage.
After waxing, I use 303 Protectant on all the decals, trim, covers and other bits and pieces of exposed plastic and metal. The decals still look new after 3+ years which are something that often fade out. - SpeakEasyExplorerWhen I was looking into this question for my 2014 TT I was surprised to learn that the answer differs depending on whether you have oxidation or not. If you do not have oxidation you do not want to use a product that has any abrasive material in it. These are generally called "polishes." If you use a polish on a non-oxidized fiberglass, you'll actually be harming it. For a new-ish (non-oxidized) surface, you want a wax, not a polish.
Aside from that, it seems to me that which polish or wax you use boils down to brand loyalty. Use whichever brand you feel loyal to.
-Speak - Mark_HeislerExplorer IIThe first thing is you need to wash it good and deoxidation before polishing this is what i do.
Mequires Ultimate Compound and then nufinsh polish
Or you can use this stuff too I have done both
wash your trailer with awesome(this will make it easier to deoxidation)
meguiars power cut compound #M91(for deoxidation)(orange pad)
nu-finsh(white pad)after the first app I put a second one on 2-3 week after
I use a portal cable DA polisher with lake country pads
my trailer will shine for about a year - corvettekentExplorer
- RedRocket204ExplorerAgree with those mentioning McGuiars. I just did this on my 10 years old trailer after removing the vinyl decals. I used McGuiars Marine Oxidation Remover for Fiberglass, blue bottle. Then McGuiars Marine cleaner wax in the black bottle. A final with McGuiars Marine Wax, black bottle.
The RV shine looks like it is new and I have a right Popeye arm now. - TerryallanExplorer III would, and do use MeQuires CLEANER wax. it works GREAT, Takes out minor imperfections, and restores the finish. I use it on my car, and truck, and my fiberglass camper. Can't go wrong.
However. IF you haven't cleaned / waxed the TT in 14 years. You may have to do it a couple times to bring it back. - ScottGNomadIf you can stand to leave the pitch alone, it will eventually dry hard and be easier to chip off.
I had some on my roof and after three years, it finally disappeared! - FlatfiveNomadGoogle says rubbing alcohol or hand-sanitizer for pine pitch.
- Ron3rdExplorer IIINufinish is a very good option; long lasting and economical too.
