I clean mine once a year with a bucket of Spic-n-Span and a push broom. Keeping the roof clean will help avoid getting those unsightly and hard to remove black streaks down the sides of your camper.
As for the algae growth, the best cure for that is probably a little bleach in the wash water, and sunshine.
