OP, is it possible those spots were manufacturer defects that you only now are noticing? I say that as fiberglass clear coats don't normally just flake off or get rubbed off without some good age or serious effort to make that happen. However it could be an original defect that possibly wasn't noticed???
I feel for you about others ruining your hard earned possessions and sorry about the troubles either way.
