Clock spring questions?

Thanks I now understand that it is a complex electrical connector. The term "clock" spring had me perplexed wondering what a clock and/or spring had to do with my steering wheel controls lol.

So is mines going out something to be expected or is it uncommon in these trucks?

Let the dealer complete the repair. Don't go cheap on the clock spring repair.

A clock spring has a ribbon of wire inside it that allows the steering wheel to be turned while still keeping contact with the connections. when a wire is flexed too many times it will break. they are a very common failure on some manuf. cars. I know for a fact Chrysler had many failures, and some were recalled! they are easy to replace. Disconnect the battery, remove the steering wheel, and the shroud around the column. and remove the clock spring. some are clipped in others are held in place with screws.

The life of the truck. It's rare but they do go out
