Clunk....

Reason asked about those mods is that I've chased similar to a rotted out battery
tray that allowed the battery to 'move' ever so slightly

K&N and thought might be their cold air setup and something came loose on that kit

If brake caliper associated, then that needs replacement. As that level of movement
to make that kind of noise says worn/busted/etc. The calipers are normally single
piston with a floating mounting system. There is an anvil that the caliper bangs
against to transfer forces to the steering knuckle and should NOT make any noise

Ditto the pads, they transfer to the caliper or to the cage

Without hearing it...tough to diagnose over the Internet. Ranges from loose stuff
already mentioned, to shocks, shock mounts/bushing, control arm bushings, steering
linkages and a huge etc

No, those "mods" were done shortly after purchase in 03'.

That doesn't sound good. I should get all the zerks
lubed up , and just live with it...the Princess tells me...
"it's a truck"! (ie...they make strange noises).:)

That sounds like the clunk that was caused by the slip yoke on a drive shaft i had on a chev truck once. Taking the shaft out and relubing it would not permanently fix the problem.

Did this 'new' noise start shortly after these two modifications?

Drilled rotors?

Performance after market calipers and pads?

Lifted ? Or other suspension mods ?

Tuner ?

Tranny mods ? Shift kit on an Alli ?

Some thing loose in the eng compartment ?

Dave... just before coming to complete stop (foot still on the brake, almost done decelerating) (is that a word ???). Does not do it upon re-acceleration.

Thanks for all the thoughts... hope to get this resolved soon as Holiday camping is on the event horizon.

exactly when does it clunk. while coming to a full stop with your foot still on the brake, after the stop and when you start to roll forward?

You sure it's not just shifting back to 1st from 2nd as you ease to a stop while the engine is cold and warming up at a higher rpm?
