The pads from curt don't last to long I don't think any pads will. I have gone through two sets of pads in 4,000 miles. I just gave up and got use to the clunk. I have thought of making some out of the same material as a hitch plate.

I used bike innertube from some old tires I had laying around. No play at all between the hitch and rails anymore.

Installed pads and took first trip. Sweet !

UPDATE - I received the pads which were about 1/16" thick. Pulled the pins, unbolted my rail legs, pried up the hitch and installed the pads, re-bolted the rail legs and torqued. Took about 15 minutes. Towed the trailer over Mount Hood and back with zero clunking. My confidence level as to how long the pads will last is low as I only have about 1 square inch of engagement on each pad. Other hitches will probably differ.

I have been wanting to cut some pads for a year or so. I was not aware of the Curt pads. Thanks I ordered some and they will be in tomorrow.

That is one of the many reasons I got rid of my Q16 and went with a B&W
