- wrvondExplorer III purchased mine as much for the things it doesn't have as for the things it does.
We definitely didn't want bunks (just two of us) - you'd be amazed how hard it is to get a decent size bathroom without bunks!
Initially, we didn't want a slide. Seems more hassle than it's worth. But decided we really wanted the extra room, but it couldn't block access to anything while stowed, and no kitchen components (like reefer) could be in it.
Turns out the Coachmen 25RKS has a slide only 18 inches deep with sofa and cabinet in it. It doesn't block anything at all.
Coachmen stopped making the Deluxe Edition, but for the same price I ordered a 253RKS outfitted the same as a Deluxe with a 15K A/C and I got to pick the colors and patterns! Couldn't pass that up.
Oh, and the second entrance door enters the bathroom instead of the bedroom. How cool is that?!
My TT reminds me of Amish women. No jewelry, no high heels or mini-skirts. But strong and completely reliable. - WoodGlueExplorer

What is different with the outside skin making it unable to delaminate?
Azdel instead of the luan plywood that the fiberblass skin is laminated too, its poly, no wood at all, it also has a great r value and lighter wieght.
There are never absolutes with delamination. It happens much, much less often with Azdel (w/ pinch rolled fiberglass as opposed to vacuum bonding)
Coachman uses Azdel and that's a very good thing. It shows that that they're also probably not cheaping out on other materials used in the construction, as Azdel isn't exactly inexpensive!
Luaun sucks!
Enjoy your new Coachman.
WoodGlue - Farm_CampExplorerFor whatever it's worth... LOL. Coachmen was on our short list of candidates while we did our research. In my case we were looking at the Catalina Deluxe Edition lineup compared to Starcraft Autumn Ridge and Jayco Jay flight.
In the end I went with Starcraft - but - not really because I found the other two lacking somehow. I thought the build quality of the Coachmen's units were at least on par with the other two units I was looking at. It boiled down to features for price and the floor-plan we wanted in the end. My Starcraft offered more tank capacity than Coachman, but less than Jayco... It also offered four bunks in the BH and still had a outside kitchen space where Jayco and Coachman only had three - albeit with a larger outside kitchen space.
I would not discourage you from going Coachmen if they have the camper you want. But I would encourage you to look around if you haven't already.
And, again, all of that is my humble opinion. Happy hunting! - pacamperExplorerWhat is different with the outside skin making it unable to delaminate?

Its similiar to the Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Diesel vs Gas, Boeing vs Airbus and so forth. All of them have perceived pluses and minuses but all are good and provide reasonable services depending on what you like or want and willing to pay for.
Best thing to do is use the search function and really read what the problem is that is stated and realize that for every one person here complaining there is many many happy consumers.
Take notes if there appears to be a trend then ask the dealer and or mfg to explain what they have done to correct an issue.
Purchase what makes you comfortable and happy. Take all responses with a grain of salt. Even mine.
Personally, I do not see an issue with Coachmen. MAybe at one time they were considered a better built product and with the times they do not have the quality they did have at one time? But I here that about other manufacturers also.

i posted a few days ago just looking for some feed back on a 2014 Apex that i just purchased and the first 2 replies were a joke, no facts on why they didnt care for the brand.
Am i missing something ??
The apex seems great, very light weight/quality interior, and the new outside skin that will not delaminate, whats not to like ??

Most to all brands and makes, if you dig hard enough you will find nightmare stories, as well as satisfied owners. Really comes down to finding one you love and the biggest thing to QUALITY and LASTING unit is learning proper & routine maintenance and care of a RV. Get to know your unit, inside, outside, below, and up top!!
;)
If you have just purchased a 2014 APEX, get out there and enjoy it, lots of adventure await you!
Also, using a TT as much as possible, while under the short warranty period, will help uncover any issues, that dealer and manufacturer can help fix!! Many times, things need fixed, adjusted, repaired, right from the factory.
Markiemark:C - Go_DogsExplorerI have had two Coachmen products, and would buy another.
