Just looking at the specifications you posted I don't think your generator is powerful enough.
From your link the a/c lists running watts as:
Standard: 1270 watts
Desert: 1550 watts
The generator claims 1600 watts but may not make that.
Note the "locked Rotor amps: 58.4 amps. This is the start-up or surge requirement. I believe this is your problem as your generator can't deliver this.
