- JiminDenverExplorer IIAnd that's why we almost exclusively boondock. The lake was something different and going to a CG every so often really makes you appreciate the silence and isolation we usually get. Most of the clearings we use are far bigger than the whole 8 spot campground. They give you enough room for a table and fire pit.
- jaycocreekExplorer IINo insulation in your trailer, saw it right off.:B
You guys must camp on top of each other with the windows open for a Honda 3k to bother you. As I said, can't here mine in the pickup in front of the trailer with the air conditioner going and the Honda running the air at a sleekly higher rpm.....
To each his own.... I don't hate solar or solar users as long as they understand not everyone camps in the desert sun but do in thick forest where you get no sun.
I'm sorry you or anyone else has to camp on top of each other that the quietest generator made to run an air conditioner ruins your day.
That's why I camp not RV! - JiminDenverExplorer IIThe Honda EU 3000is in the next spot last trip ran 24/7 unless they left. Believed me, it can be heard. We used more power running a TV/DVD and music to drown it out than the furnace.
Like I said, I'm a fan of any quieter generator for use around others but lets not fool ourselves into thinking they are silent. - jaycocreekExplorer II
Once inside it doesn't matter if it is the Champ or a Honda 3000is, they are both hums that you can hear.
Outside the Champ is obnoxious.
When my air conditioner is running I can't here my Honda running at all but with the 65db Generac, that's not the case at all.Of course it depends on where the generator is and I keep mine in the back of my pickup in front of the trailer as close as hooked up.
There is know comparison in a Honda 3k and a cheap 4k generator as my Generac or the Champion.
When we were hunting a month ago I could here the 65db generator screaming at 3600 rpms way before I got to camp driving on on a dirt road. To compare that to the Honda is absurd. - JiminDenverExplorer IIWhile the Champ 3500/4000 isn't as bad as some make it out to be, nor is any generator silent. I wouldn't run mine in a campground short of dire circumstances. We almost exclusively boondock so the only people subjected to it are us and likely we will be inside watch TV as the air runs. 68 db that is loud.
Frank.
It is.I have a Generac 4k that runs 65db@3600 rpms and it's crazy loud compared to my Honda 3k... Don't get me wrong, that Generac is a great generator and very reliable but it just isn't a RV gen in my opinion like a Honda/Yamaha or even the Onan. - MM49ExplorerI look at these price leaders and see un-plated fuel systems, Aluminum windings. diodes vs. SCR's. There are hundreds of way to cut cost out of a generator.
MM49 - VTRExplorerI did not mentioned, the wife can lift and move it around too!
