The 3.6 doesn't have to be a truck engine since the new Canyon/Colorado aren't work horse type trucks. Heck I had a Pinto engine in my Ford Ranger that went 198,000 with zero issues.
I googled and although I did find timing chain issue problems with older versions of the 3.6 DOHC engine, I couldn't find any issues with later 3.6 engines. It appears that the timing chain issue is not an issue with later versions of the 3.6 engine, from what I can determine.
