- APTExplorerTHe 5.7L Hemi has always required 87 octane and 89 recommended.
The Ecoboost is 87 required, 91 recommends for hot temps and heavy loads. - patperry2766Explorer IIOn pg 5 of the Car & Driver review, it states that the fuel octane ratings are:
87 - Chevy
89 - Dodge
91 - Ford
Is this really what the mfg are recommending? - goducks10Explorer

That's plenty for a family of four and a picnic basket:) - APTExplorerWow, 801 pounds of payload for the Ram!

- joshuajimExplorer IIThe only thing I know for sure is that I drove by the auto mall and looked at their service areas. Ford and Chevy were about equal and Dodge was smaller. All were full of trucks being repaired.

I just drove a Ram 1500 and maybe it was a 2011 but before the 8 sp trannie. Nice driving pickup but it isn't a truck.

I think we all know how the work truck crowd would have voted! ;)
You talking about the crowd that buys a whole fleet of trucks for other people drive? It's funny that the guy that makes me by Fords at work drives nothing but Chevy. The "work truck" crowd is mostly politics. Ford just gives better back rubs.;) - LessmoreExplorer IIInteresting comparison. I'm not surprised the Chevy won out....but only because it is the latest redesign.
Next year apparently Ford will come out with a redesigned pickup and I would expect it will be the top of the heap...till Dodge....which must be planning a redesign ....will then take the top crown.
In the end they're all good. Don't think you could go wrong with either the Chevy/GMC, Ford or Dodge.
Although my personal preference would be to get the fine 5 liter Ford Coyote V8, rather than the Ford EcoBoost V6.
I have a buddy with a 2013 Ford F 150 and he was concerned about the same rippling in the F 150's door when it's closed....that the C+D test mentions.
I wonder if the metal gauge is thinner in the Fords ?
Also he was surprised that fender liners in the Ford are now an extra cost option !!
Other than that he loves his new F 150. - TomG2Explorer

Chevy won, car and driver has to be the most intelligent, awesomest magazine ever. They are so insightful and honest in their reporting I could buy a vehicle based on their reviews.
two thumbs up.
I get it, but sarcasm and irony are not always appreciated. My attempts at such are missed as often as understood.
(Of Course Chevy won. The only time they lose is when the tests are rigged against them, or the testers have no class)
