Concrete pad and hook ups

Looking to pour a pad and run power behind my house for TC Im thinking a 20'x20' should work with a depth of 4" for weight. What's the easiest power setup? Don't think I'll mess with water...Gets chilly here in winter.

  • I purchased a 30/40 amp RV Park Sevice bolted it to a pressure treated pedestel, water comes up the middle, Cable, and a Reptile heating pad inside keeps the water flowing all winter....

As nice as that would be I have to keep a low profile HOA and all, plus I don't want half my yard concrete lol...

  • I don't know if you want a 20 amp for fridge, running a vacuum cleaner... 30 amps...running an a/c unit...or 50 amp. While your digging...whatever you decide...I would run a big enough conduit to handle all...I would probably opt to run wire gauge sufficient for 50 amp service...that way you can upgrade the box easily if you decide to upgrade to a 50 amp outlet or a 50/30/20 RV panel.

I went overkill on mine... 80amps from the main to the pedastel...I can actually provide full amperage to the 50 the 30 and the 20 amp simultaneously... The only way I could ever use all that s to have two rv's plugged in at one while running power tools off the 20 amp circuit.

I also ran 2" PVC underground to my septic system so I can dump on the pad using a macerator pump...it would be nice, if the run from your pad is level or downhill to your sewer...wouldn't work going up hill...without a lift station...or powerful macerator and check valve....

  • If I was doing it I would rethink the water issue. If you are trenching for power just throw some black poly or 3/4 pvc in while you are at it. Even if you dont run it all the way right now and you decide to continue on to your water source later you will have some of it done. Just blow the line out in the fall. You may also be able to put in auto drains. I have black poly all over my property and 7 faucets. Makes it very convenient. I would do pvc. I'm in sand but I have seen pinholes in poly from sharp pebbles.
