Two and a half weeks ago, in Florida, I talked to a Ford salesman and told him I wanted to order a new F150 Lariat as soon as ordering was available to dealers. He said he'd call when he heard. On Monday, July 28, I saw in USA Today's web site that orders were being taken for the new F150s beginning that day, and called the salesman. He said he had no such information, and said further that he would check and call me back "tomorrow morning." Not hearing from the guy next day, I called Ford Marketing in Dearborn and was assured that "every dealer in the country has the packet necessary to order 2015 F150s." On Wednesday, July 30, I ordered a $46,000 (plus tax) F150 at a different dealership, whereat I dealt with a knowledgeable salesman — and those types are hard to find these days in Florida, especially when it comes to trucks.
