In my case 2750 rpms at 70 mph. and yes it will and has run that way all day many times while pulling a load. It does not change going up a grade. Never had reason to run my 7.3 at 3400 rpms.
In my case I rarely see over 4500rpm with my lowly 5.4L but someone thought it would be thought provoking to use extreme rpm to make a point. I was just being agreeable. You don't have to use peak HP rpm to do the job unless the job requires peak HP. Lower rpm will usually suffice. 2750 with the diesel or 4200 with the gasser is a walk in the park for either engine. I can't believe how timid some of you are about using your trucks.
