Our shower floor flexes around the drain also. I suspected what it might be and removing the access panel to take a look confirmed it.
They leave the area around the drain, and from the access panel to the drain, unsupported for maintenance and (go figure) repair access. It looks like an easy fix. A 2x4 brace and a small piece of plywood should do the trick. I need to get it done before mine cracks also.
