I buy trucks for work, not bling. To that end, I tend to pack the bed of my truck with lots of stuff before, during and after hitching to my fiver. I cannot imagine not being able to pack all I want into the truck because I ran out of room in the short bed. Backing any vehicle takes practice and understanding of turning radius with a particular truck. Length makes some difference, but if you learn you can do it. I remember many years ago watching a lady truck driver with a really long wheel base tractor back a 53 foot trailer into a hole that other drivers had problems with with much shorter combinations.
