Crew Cab and long bed

To those of you who tow their 5ver with a crew cab & long bed do you find it hard to maneuver? I have a 36' 5ver and am thinking about getting a different truck.

When I had one...Yes. My current CC 6.75 bed is better. Still a little tough, sometimes.

When snow birding at our park in Florida, we had to wait a few hours for a neighbor to return before we could back in our 38' trailer. When they returned and moved their truck, we could finally get in.

How much difference do you think it would have been if you had an extended cab instead? I think the crew cab is about 10" longer.

I have a crew cab + long bed truck with a 42' fifth wheel. I can't imagine that I've ever been in a scenario where that 10" would have helped. BUT- I'm also a newbie at towing.

  • I have a F-350 4X4 with crew cab and 8 ft bed. You're not going to do a U turn on a 2 lane road without jockeying it around. But with the longer wheelbase it rides like a Cadillac. It doesn't do a U turn like a car but you get use to it.
    I pull a 40 ft 5er. Makes for a really nice ride.
When it comes time to trade I'll be looking for another one just like it.
