Cruiser RV Indiana & Reines RV Virginia - HELP!

We have a Shadow Cruiser S-195WBS 2011, which we have had no problems with since we bought it used in 2012. However recently the slide would not go out and made a horrible grinding noise. We took it to Reines RV in Manassas, VA where we purchased it to attempt to get it fixed. Evidently, the awning over the slide has caused the slide to not function and a part from Cruiser RV is necessary for the repair. The Reines Service Rep said it would take 1 to 2 days to get an estimate for the repair - that was a week ago. After several calls, I am told that Cruiser RV is not responding to Reines request for the availability and cost of the part. The Cruiser RV Web Site indicates that parts are only available through dealers, of which Reines is one. Not to mention that Reines has told us that once the part of obtained, it might take 1 to 2 months for an appointment to repair the slide. We have trips planned. What would you do?

  • Ouch.

They are the only RV shop we have ever used that charged shop rate for the time the service manager spent on the phone. Around $120 to $130/hr at that time, IIRC.

I hope it goes well for you. Let us know how it turns out.
  • If it's a factory installed topper, CruiserRV will be able to determine what part number you're talking about. As could any other RV dealership in the area.

What was the $148 for? Payment in advance for just looking at it?
  • RE newman fulltimer's reply/question: The Dealer (Reines) has not provided me with the part number needed, the kind of topper, or even my email request for a written description of the work that needs to be done as per their estimate which I paid $148 for almost a week and 1/2 ago.
  • I cannot begin to tell you how much I cringed when I saw your topic.

Call CruiserRV yourself and ask about the part. Do not trust the information you are getting from Reines.

Also ask Cruiser to recommend someone in your/our area OTHER THAN REINES who could do the work.

It's not warranty, so you can take it anywhere you want. You might try Restless Wheels RV in Manassas to start.

Based on personal past experience, I would not recommend Reines. Ever. To Anyone.
