Agree that it's pricey. But, if everyone doesn't do their part to stop these infestations from spreading, $8 will sound cheap IF you can even find any wood. I love a big campfire as much as the next person, but I also enjoy looking into the gorgeous trees, watching the birds, all the other wonderful parts of camping. So, I would suggest either consider your weekend camping is going to cost you $16 + or - more than before, or just do without a real wood fire. The duralogs, as mentioned earlier, may not be the perfect substitute, but beats the heak out of being one of the guilty ones who thought they'd sneak in some wood from home under the tarp. As campers, we should be doing MORE to preserve than trying to figure out a way around it.
Another thought would be to volunteer your time and energy at your local CG to help in cutting and splitting firewood and bundling it. Just grab your trusty chainsaw and splitting maul or even your log splitter if you're lucky, and head out to help. Volunteers?
