The dealer wants an insane amount to change a fuel filter
Let's compare 'insanes'! Since your Ram is newer than mine (2011 vs 2005), I'm guessing things are different. That said, I have changed my oil and fuel filters for the last 7 years (that oil filter is a bear on the '05 because of location) but now that we're apartment dwellers, no longer an option. Went to the local FCA dealership for oil/filter changes. I was charged, are you ready, $136 TO CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER. $36 FOR THE FILTER, THE REST LABOR FOR SOMETHING THAT TOOK ME 10 MINUTES AND $25 BUCKS AT THE LOCAL NAPA STORE!!!
I fully understand the 'stealership' thing now. They also performed a 'free multi-point inspection' informing me all four tires were at the end of their useful tread life. I replaced both rear tires 2 weeks prior to the oil change.........:M
What surprises me is how much they have gone up. I know the Canadian dollar isn't what it used to be but the cost of having it done at the dealer has doubled since I bought my truck. The last one I had done at the dealer, they charged me $183 CAD or $141 USD. The Fleetguards I buy at Cummins with no discount cost me $60 CAD and changing them is the same procedure as on the 01 Dodge this truck replaced
