I am looking to buy a new or couple year old travel trailer. I have a 31ft class C that I am currently selling. I think the travel trailer will work better for us. I am looking for a bunkhouse with two slides - one in the main and one in the bunkhouse. I am looking for a model with the larger outdoor kitchens. I am in Arizona, so I would like either the trailer to be wired for a second air conditioner or already have one installed. I started my quest looking at the 2014 Keystone Sprinter 311BHS - the floorplan is what I am interested in. I have been to a few dealers, and see the MSRP, then run away. I read online that the MSRP is usually way off on actual price. I have looked at a used 2012 Jayco 32BHDS that was $21k and has dropped to $19k. There is a 2013 Surveyor SV305 (says repo and needs a little work - all I can see from the pictures is the outdoor fridge and indoor tv are missing) for $17900. Then there is another one (keeps listing in AZ, but is in Louisville KY) that is $17900 for a 2010 Sprinter 31BHDS. I don't know what a good price is for new anymore than I can figure out what a good price for used is. If I wanted this similar model for new (2013/2014), what should I expect to pay? Are these prices good and the actual selling price for used right now? Thanks in advance.

I started looking through Nada guides for pricing, but found that they are way too high on their estimates. For example, the 2012 Jayco I listed above for $19k (was $21k) is on Nada for $27-31k. That is a huge difference compared to reality. Same goes for the other trailers I listed above. There are tons more I did not list on the web and Nada seems to always be way over priced. I wonder who is giving Nada guides the information - the stealers or real people. If possible, I was hoping that people would list the prices they are actually paying, or PM me the prices.

Get a quote on a new one from one of the RV "wholesalers". Call them, tell what you are looking for. Give an example, like you did above. Any given dealer will have 10 brands of that floorplan as it is very popular. You can buy a new model with that floorplan for $18-$30k depending on what features, construction, etc. Google:RV WholesalersLakeshore RVHolman RVRV DirectI live close enough to those dealers that I could buy from them and pick up. For used, I would compare what those dealers sell for to local pickup customers and then consider the value of your time and $ to transport new vs. age/condition used.I prefer to buy new and pay maybe 25%, even 50% more than used/2-5 years old. I get to order exactly the options/colors I want. No one else abused it, just my own kids :).

I requested a quote from RV Wholesalers last night - they quoted $29230 for the Sprinter I listed. I saw the Sprinter last year in some California (Indio) Craigslist ads for $18-19k for the 2013 model at a couple of dealers. I should have bought one then, but got a great deal on my Class C. That $29k quote looks really high too, and doesn't include tax or shipping. I will see what those other wholesalers are asking. Thanks for the info.

Now we are looking better. RV direct just sent me a quote on a 2013 Jayco Jay Flight Travel Trailer 32BHDS that they have in stock. They are asking $21443 - doesn't include shipping or tax. I still need to check with the other two you suggested APT.If you buy direct from these wholesalers, I assume any warranty work can be made at any dealer that carries the same manufacture trailers right?

Thanks. I sat and got a quote with the local dealer on this exact same model for a new 2013 and they wouldn't go below $29 out the door. If I take the $24700 for a 2014 like you were looking at, minus the additional extra year old, minus the no prep for second AC, minus the tech package, minus the larger AC, minus the power package, I said $24k out the door and wouldn't budge. I think I was being fair. I think the $24700 + 2k for TTL, that is $26700 out the door for the 2014 you were quoted it is reasonable that $24000 out the door for the less amenities 2013 was fair. I am not sure why they wouldn't budge unless they paid $5k for shipping a year ago. Am I off base?

I have seen a few trailers from the midwest online and received a few quotes. The prices are better, but shipping is going to be $2300 and then I still need to pay tax. That puts it still cheaper than AZ, but not enough to buy sight unseen. I may end up seeing if I can special order from back there.

The only Northwoods that was close was an Artic Fox 31D, but it sold before I got to see it. I have not seen any Outdoors RV trailers and I don't see any with the floorplan I am looking for on their website. Closest I can see is the Creekside 31KQBS, but I don't want the second slide on the campsite side, I want a second door to the bathroom, and I don't think I want an outdoor kitchen in the front of the RV. That model looks pretty nice, but not exactly what I am looking for.

My TT listed for $39700 and I paid about $26250 for it. NADA is ok for some vehicles but IMHO they are very high for RVs...they recently listed my '11 TT for just about what I actually paid for it. Spring is probably the most difficult time to get a good deal but I wouldn't be embarrassed to offer about 35% under the MSRP on new RVs. You may not get it for that but it seems to be a good starting point. You also have to be able to walk away because dealers are good at what they do. You may also be able to bargain on some "freebies" that you do want, not just the stuff the dealer wants to throw in.

Have you gotten quotes from the BIG midwest dealers on some of those for new 2014 models? 2015 should be starting on some brands already.

All the models you listed new would be $20-25k plus TTL around here. That Jayco 32BHDS can be had new 2014 custom order for about $22k for example. A Primetime Lacrosse 318 is $24k as is Outback 312.

Have you compared to some of the west coast companies? Outdoors RV and Northwoods Mfg?

Some new updates to my quest. We have figured out the things we want and I am starting to think I need to wait until winter and order a new trailer. The prices for trailers are starting to go up - in Arizona. I think I will be buying out of state anyway as the price here is strangely higher than other states for no apparent reason from my research. Hopefully I am not re-posting trailers I have already posted. I have everything in an excel file, but I am not really keeping track of the trailers I have posted here.

My favorite so far is a 2013 Jayco 32BHDS New = $29885 out the door. They kept trying to tell me they would throw in a hitch, full propane tanks and "lifetime warranty" - all of which I did not need or want. They would not budge on the price, but they lowered the list price online the next day by $2000. I expected them to call me and tell me they would go lower the next day, but haven't received anything from them. Seems a little strange.
